Groups: team communication and wins, in one place

TLDR: Field-service teams ran their whole day in Menaia, then jumped to Telegram to actually talk. I spearheaded Groups: customizable channels for updates, discussion, and automatically-tracked wins, so communication and celebration finally live where the work happens.

Project Statement

Field-service teams run their whole day in one platform, then jump to Telegram or WhatsApp to actually talk. The work and the conversation live in two different places.

Understanding the space

Field teams were already doing all of this, just scattered across group chats. The job was to pull communication, updates, and celebration into one place: Groups.

Low Fidelity

Rough sketches of the system layout.

Claude was a big help thinking through layouts fast and keeping them honest about the infrastructure we already had, so we could build the whole thing on what already existed.

Stuff I'm low-key proud of

Reuse over rebuild Shipped a full social product on infrastructure that already existed. Posts run on an existing comments system, so there's no parallel backend to maintain.

Product + design ownership Owned and championed the work. Took the vision of having a win board and turned it into a custom and scalable feature.

Designed badging system Built the entire badge system. Came up with every concept and the unlock logic, then designed each badge to look and feel unmistakably like Menaia.
